Rules of Narration/ Passage Narration
Direct Narration : He said, "I am ill."
Indirect Narration : He said that he was ill.
Reported Speech : বক্তার উক্তি বা কথাকে Reported Speech বলে ।
e.g. : "I am ill."
Reporting Verb : Reported Speech - এর পৃর্বে যে Verb ব্যবহৃত হয়, তাকে Reporting Verb বলে ।
e.g. : He said - এখানে said একটা Reporting Verb ।

How to Person Change in Narration
Person are three types :
(i) 1st person : [ singular = I, me, mine, my, myself.
Plural = We, us, our, ours, ourselves ]
(ii) 2nd person : [ you, your, yours]
(iii) 3rd person : [ He, she, they, it, his, her, its]
NOTE : 1st person Sub কে নির্দেশ করে ।
2nd person Obj কে নির্দেশ করে ।
3rd person অপরিবর্তিত থাকে ।
How to Verb Change
am/is ------------- was

V2 -------------- had + V3
has/have -------------- had

Use of Linkers
Sentence ---- Comma- এর পরিবর্তে ব্যবহৃত Linkers
Assertive/ Optative/ Exclamatory = that
Interrogative = if/ whether (যদি auxiliary verb দ্বারা বাক্য শুরু হয়) (question word/wh-word (যদি wh word দ্বারা বাক্য শুরু হয়)
Imperative = To/ that (যদি let দ্বারা বাক্য শুরু হয়)
Assertive Sentence
► Assertive Sentence = ( Sub + Verb + Obj )
e.g. : He is a good boy.
e.g. : I go to University.
Interrogative Sentence
► Interrogative = (Aux.verb + sub + main verb + obj+?)
Ex: Are you going to Dhaka ?
Ex: Where have you gone?
Interrogative: Rini said to me, " Are you going to Dhaka?"
Interrogative: Rini asked me if I was going to
Dhaka.
Interrogative: She said to me, "Where have you gone?"
Interrogative: She asked me where I had gone.
Imperative Sentence
►Imperative =
(Verb+obj.)
Ex: Give me a cup of coffee.
Ex: Don't tell a lie.
Imperative: I said to me, "Give me a cup of coffee."
Imperative: I ordered him to give me a cup of coffee.
Imperative: The teacher said to me, "Don't tell a lie."
Imperative: The teacher advised me not to tell a lie.

Ex: May Allah bless you.
Optative: Father said to me, "May Allah bless you".
Optative : Father wished me that Allah might bless me.
ExclamatorySentence
►Exclamatory = (What
How+adj+noun+sub+verb+!)
Exclamatory : What a beautiful bird
it is !
Exclamatory : She said, " What a beautiful bird it is."
Exclamatory : She exclaimed with joy that it was a very
beautiful bird.
Rules of Passage Narration
Yes= Replied in the affirmative/ Promised
No= Replied in the Negative/ Denied
Sir= Respectfully
Please= Requested
Dear friend= Addressing as dear friend
By Allah= Swearing by Allah
Exclamatory Sentence= Exclaim with joy/ sorrow
So= For the reason
Passage- এ যদি বক্তা একের অধিক উক্তি ব্যবহার করে তবে প্রথম উক্তি উল্লেখ করার পর, পরবর্তী উক্তিগুলো উল্লেখ করার সময় নিমোক্ত নিয়মগুলো অনুসরণ করা হয়:
1. Assertive Sentence- এর ক্ষেত্রে : also said/ again said, added/ further added, প্রভুতি ব্যবহার করা হয় ।
2. Interrogative Sentence- এর ক্ষেত্রে : also asked/ again asked/ further asked, প্রভুতি ব্যবহার করা হয় ।
3. Imperative Sentence- এর ক্ষেত্রে : and ordered to/ and requested, প্রভুতি ব্যবহার করা হয় ।
4. Optative Sentence- এর ক্ষেত্রে : and wished/ and prayed that, প্রভুতি ব্যবহার করা হয় ।
5. Exclamatory Sentence- এর ক্ষেত্রে : and exclaimed with happiness/ joy that/ in grief that, প্রভুতি ব্যবহার করা হয় ।
Now Exercise Passage Narration :
"Where do you like to go, sir?" asked the ticket seller. "Cox's Bazar” replied the stranger. "How many tickets do you need?" "I will buy five tickets." "Take these tickets.
They will cost three thousands taka," said the ticket seller.
Answer: The ticket seller asked the stranger respectfully where he (stranger) liked to go. The stranger replied that Cox's Bazar. The ticket seller asked the stranger how many tickets he (stranger) needed.
The stranger replied that he would buy five tickets only. The ticket seller told the stranger to take those tickets. And added that they would cost three thousands taka.
